Meredith Monk (natural November 20, 1942) is an American composer, vocalist, film-maker, & choreographer. When she is one of a earliest creative person to practice what is today called performance art, Monk identifies herself as a composer and troubadour. She is primarily knhave for her vocal innovations, including the wide range of extended techniques, which she 1st developed within her solo performances prior to forming her own ensemble. Extra recently she composed an opera Atlas which premiered around Houston in 1991.

She has won numbers of awards including the MacArthur Fellowship.
